Halloween Night in Koiwa: The 2 A.M. Shift at Mugen Hassha!! Okusama Deli Kyubin

While Shibuya drowned in costumes, I hid out in a Koiwa business hotel and called a 24-hour married-women delivery health after midnight. Here's who actually works the overnight shift, what the call sounds like at 1:30 a.m., and why the ¥12,000 first-timer 90 minutes is the only number you need.

Halloween Night in Koiwa: The 2 A.M. Shift at Mugen Hassha!! Okusama Deli Kyubin
Elon
ElonEvery Halloween, half of Tokyo goes to Shibuya to get elbowed by a guy in a Pikachu suit. I went the other direction, to the far east edge of the city, where the only costume I saw all night was a station attendant's uniform. This one is about the overnight side of a 24-hour shop: which women are actually on the board after midnight, how the late call goes, and what it costs when you skip every upsell. Short version: go late, book long, and stop doing math after the coupon.

Getting out of the blast radius

Saturday, October 31. By nine p.m. my feed was wall-to-wall Shibuya crowd shots, every one of them taken from inside somebody's armpit. I've done Halloween in Shibuya once. Once is the correct number.

So I took the Sobu Line east until Tokyo ran out. Koiwa is the last JR stop in the city before the Edogawa River and Chiba. On a regular night it's a covered shopping street, a few izakaya, and a lot of people walking home with convenience-store bags. On Halloween night it was the same thing, which was the point. I checked into a plain business hotel near the station, showered, and opened the Cityheaven page for Mugen Hassha!! Okusama Deli Kyubin, Koiwa branch.

The name roughly translates as "Unlimited Release!! Housewife Express." It's a delivery health (deriheru), so there's no storefront: you book, and she comes to your room. The listing says it dispatches to Koiwa in Edogawa-ku, runs 24 hours with no days off, and answers at 03-6807-4557. The concept is married and mature women only, and the top page goes out of its way to say there's no flashy cosplay and no extreme play. On Halloween, that read less like a limitation and more like a promise.

Who's on after midnight

Most guys look at a shop's roster. I look at the shift board, because a roster tells you who exists and a shift board tells you who's awake.

This shop has 17 women listed, ages 27 to 39, every one of them still marked "reviews wanted." The board runs on fixed daily windows, and the overnight half of it is surprisingly deep:

Window Who the board lists
until 3:00 Kondo (32), on from 15:00
until 4:00 Ichinose (27), Tomita (38)
until 5:00 Fujisaki (31)
until 6:00 Matsui (33), Katsura (36), Kato (32), Sasazaki (32), Himekawa (34), Uchida (36), Ozono (39)

So at 1:30 a.m., the board puts eleven women on the clock, and seven of them stay until six in the morning. That's more than the shop lists for the middle of the afternoon. If you're the kind of guy who can't sleep, this is a shop built for you.

There's a tell, too. The photo diary feed had a post from Ichinose stamped 02:20 that morning titled "I'm here until 4!" Another woman, Tomita, posted the same message a few weeks back, also after two a.m. These aren't women pretending to work nights. The night is their shift.

The page itself warns that the schedule is a plan and can change, so call to confirm. I'd add: every day of the coming week shows almost identical hours, so read it as each woman's standing window, not a guarantee she's free.

The call at 1:30

I picked Ozono. Thirty-nine, the oldest on the roster, listed at T162, on from 20:00 to 6:00. She's the one who closes the night, and I liked the idea of the last woman on the board instead of the first.

The phone picked up on the second ring. A man's voice, quiet, the way you talk when everyone else in the office is asleep. I said I'd seen the shop on Heaven and wanted the first-timer price. That's the only magic phrase you need here: the coupon page lists three new-customer deals, and the 90-minute one tells you to say "Heaven mita" when you call.

First-timer coupon Regular Coupon
60 min ¥13,000 ¥8,000
90 min ¥18,000 ¥12,000
120 min (web booking only) ¥24,000 ¥18,000

I took the 90. The coupon page lists the membership fee at ¥0, so the stack was simple: ¥12,000 for the course, ¥1,000 to nominate Ozono, ¥1,000 transport (that covers anywhere in the 23 wards). ¥14,000 total, plus the hotel room I'd already paid for. He confirmed the hotel name and my room number, and asked me to keep my phone on. Total call time: under two minutes. Nobody upsold me on anything.

One thing I didn't push: the shop also advertises a daytime nomination-fee waiver for weekdays before 18:00. It was a Saturday and two in the morning, so it was never going to apply, and I didn't bother asking. If you can only go late, just accept the ¥1,000.

The knock

She arrived around twenty past two, which is roughly what he'd told me. Long dark coat, scarf, a tote bag, and no trace of Halloween anywhere on her. I said something about Shibuya. She laughed and said she'd watched the crowds on the news before her shift and was glad to be on this side of the river.

Here's what I'll say about the next ninety minutes without turning this into a different kind of website. The shop sells itself on calm, unhurried, grown-up company, and that's what showed up. She didn't rush the first fifteen minutes. She asked where I was from, asked why anybody from New York would spend Halloween in Koiwa, and found my answer ("to hide") funnier than it was. There's a version of this business where the clock is the third person in the room. With her, I forgot the clock existed until she pointed at it, gently, with about ten minutes left.

The menu has a line item that gives the shop its name: unlimited finishes within your time, free. It's listed as an option, and the page says options are confirmed with the woman. That's the right way to read the whole options list. It tells you what you can ask about, not what you're owed. I asked about nothing extra. I didn't need to.

The numbers I didn't spend

Late at night, tired and comfortable, is exactly when guys make bad money decisions. So here's what I deliberately left on the table:

  • Extension. 30 minutes costs ¥7,000 and 60 costs ¥15,000. That's pricier per minute than the courses themselves. If you think you'll want two hours, book the 120 at the start. Don't extend.
  • Change. Sending a woman back costs ¥5,000. At 2 a.m., with eleven women listed, I can see why a guy might be tempted. Choose properly on the phone instead.
  • Paid options. They run from ¥1,000 up to ¥8,000 per item. Every one of them depends on the woman agreeing anyway.
  • Cancellation. It's 50% of the total. That's why I booked from inside the hotel room and not from the train.

My bill stayed at the ¥14,000 I'd agreed to on the phone. No surprises, no extra charges at the end.

For comparison, a return visit with the same woman for the same 90 minutes would be ¥18,000, plus a ¥2,000 repeat-nomination fee and ¥1,000 transport: ¥21,000. The first visit is a deal, and the shop knows it.

Who this is for

If you want a party, this isn't it. No costumes, no theme, no neon. This is a quiet shop in a quiet neighborhood that keeps a big night crew. Its whole personality is "a grown woman who isn't in a hurry."

Go if:

  • You're staying on the east side (Koiwa, Shin-Koiwa, or anywhere in the 23 wards for the same ¥1,000 transport).
  • You keep late hours. The overnight board here is deeper than the afternoon one.
  • You'd rather have 90 relaxed minutes than 60 rushed ones. At ¥12,000 for the first visit, the 90 makes the decision for you.

Skip it if you need reviews before you'll book. As of tonight, none of the 17 profiles has one.

She left a little before four. I stood at the window for a while. Koiwa was dark except for a convenience store and one taxi idling by the station. Somewhere across town, a whole lot of people in costumes were still trying to get home from Shibuya. I went to bed. Best Halloween I've had in Tokyo, and I never saw a single pumpkin.
