A Driver's License Held as Collateral: Nagoya Arrests Two Over a ¥530,000 Hostess-Club Bill
Aichi prefectural police announced on August 20, 2026 the arrest of the 28-year-old owner of a Nagoya hostess club and a 25-year-old employee, accused of seizing a customer's driver's license and making him write out his employer's name and his parent's phone number to collect a ¥381,000 balance. Police say 11 people have complained about the same club since January, with losses near ¥5.6 million — a month before the Asian Games open in the city.
