Field Diary Yoshiwara Soapland Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge Yoshiwara: One 120-Minute Course, ¥67,500, and the Free-vs-Nominate Math Before 11 a.m.

Moulin Rouge is an old-school high-class soapland in Yoshiwara with a single 120-minute course at ¥67,500 all-in. I read its official board, its Cityheaven coupons and its fuzoku.jp listing to work out when going 'free' beats nominating, why the 11 a.m. cutoff is worth ¥10,000, and how booking and the shuttle actually work.

Elon
ElonMoulin Rouge doesn't do a menu. It does one door: 120 minutes, one price, take it or leave it. That makes it the easiest high-end shop in Yoshiwara to plan and the easiest one to overpay at, because the only things you control are the clock and whether you say a name on the phone. I went in with both figured out. Here's the math.

Why I picked a shop with no choices

Most Yoshiwara shops hand you a laminated grid: 50, 60, 80, 100 minutes, extensions, "premium" badges, add-ons. You spend more energy reading it than you do in the bath. Moulin Rouge (ムーランルージュ, 千束4-41-14) skips all of that. The official system page lists exactly one standard course:

  • 120 minutes, bath fee (入浴料) ¥27,500
  • All-in total: ¥67,500, the "normal" figure on both of its Cityheaven deals

That's it. A "Premium Class" and a two-woman Harlem Course (二輪車) exist, but both say "ask the shop" for the price, so I'm not putting a number on them. The shop calls itself one of the few "genuine old-school high-class" houses left on the strip, and the site's tagline says it's "visual-first." The roster backs that up on paper: the profiles I scanned on the Harlem page list women aged 20 to 22, tagged mostly 綺麗系 (elegant) and モデル系 (model type).

At ¥67,500 for 120 minutes you're paying about ¥560 a minute. That's the number to beat.

The 11 a.m. line is worth ten grand

The morning deal (朝割) is on the official site, fuzoku.jp and Cityheaven, and all three agree:

Arrive before 11:00 Discount off the total You pay
Free (no nomination) −¥10,000 ¥57,500
Nominated −¥5,000 ¥62,500

The shop opens at 10:00, so "before 11" means a one-hour window. It doesn't combine with other discounts. At ¥57,500 the per-minute rate drops to about ¥480, which is the cheapest way into this building that I could find.

Free vs. nominate: the counterintuitive part

Here's what jumped out. Cityheaven quotes the same ¥67,500 regular total for both free and nominated guests, so picking a specific woman doesn't add a fee on the standard board. Where the gap shows up is the discounts, which are bigger for free guests:

  • Morning, free: ¥57,500
  • Morning, nominated: ¥62,500
  • Daytime, free, using the Cityheaven "All TIME" coupon: ¥62,500. This is ¥5,000 off for arrivals between 10:00 and 22:00, if you choose from the photos at the shop, it's your first time with that woman, and you say シティヘブンみた ("I saw it on Cityheaven").
  • Nominated, regular hours: ¥67,500

So a free pick at 2 p.m. costs the same as a nominated booking at 10:30 a.m. If you already know who you want, the morning is the only discount you'll get. If you're open to whoever's on, go free. Even outside the morning window, the photo-pick coupon saves you five grand.

Booking: read both pages, then call early

This is where the shop's own pages disagree a little:

  • Official site: reservations from 9:00 on the day before or the same day. Members and mail-magazine members can book a week ahead.
  • Cityheaven: new (non-member) customers can book from 10:00 the day before.

Plan around the stricter one and call at 10 the day before. One odd rule: no bookings from public phones. Last entry is 22:00, the doors close at midnight, and fuzoku.jp lists the shop as open every day of the year.

Getting there without a fifteen-minute walk

fuzoku.jp puts the shop 15 minutes on foot from Minowa Station, which is a long walk on a cold morning. It also lists shuttle pickups at JR Nippori East Exit and Minowa Station (Hibiya Line). If you drive, the official page points you to the Iriya exit (Shuto Route 1) or the Tsutsumi-dori exit (Route 6) and says there's free parking for guests. For a 10:00 arrival I'd take the Yamanote to Nippori and arrange the shuttle when I booked.

Paying, and the small print

  • Cards: accepted, per fuzoku.jp.
  • Receipts: not issued. Fine for most people, but worth knowing if you were hoping to expense the "client dinner."
  • Hygiene: the safety page asks for masks in reception and the waiting room, a temperature check on arrival, and hand washing and gargling. The shop says it ventilates regularly and disinfects equipment.
  • English: the site links to yoasobi-heaven's English Tokyo listings. The rules pages I read had no "no foreigners" clause, but keep the phone call short and say the shop's name clearly.

The new-face angle

The Cityheaven top page shows five new arrivals between October 12 and October 26, all 20 or 21. With only one course on offer, the main question is which woman, not what length. Remember the coupon only covers your first time with someone, so a new face doubles as a ¥5,000 discount if you go free in the daytime.

My plan, priced

A weekday, no name in mind, booked at 10:00 the day before, Nippori shuttle, through the door by 10:45:

  • ¥57,500 total for 120 minutes, about ¥479 a minute
  • Versus ¥67,500 for the same two hours booked by name at 3 p.m.: ¥10,000 for showing up early and letting the house choose

The bottom line on Moulin Rouge: the board can't confuse you because there's only one line on it. Your money depends on two things, the clock and the name. Get there before 11, go free, and you're paying the least anyone pays for this building.
